Services

My approach to counseling is to work collaboratively with you.  Through building a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, understood, valued, and accepted, we will be able to help you or your child move forward to meet your goals.

I work from a developmental standpoint, matching interventions to clients' developmental level and needs. I use play therapy for young children, activity therapy for older children (tweens), and talk therapy or expressive arts therapy for teens and adults.

I bring two unique aspects to my counseling services: I utilize expressive arts and interpersonal neurobiology. Expressive arts is a modality geared towards discovering deeper aspects of yourself that may be difficult to access through verbal means. Expressive arts utilize art, music, sandtray, and other creative means of expression to help you uncover buried experiences or feelings, freeing you to work through them in the present. Note: You do not have to be creative or artistic to utilize this modality.

Interpersonal Neurobiology is a cutting edge concept in counseling that uses neuroscience research to inform counseling practice. I educate clients with this knowledge and the links between problems of relating and engrained neural network (brain chemistry) patterns. Through engaging in a new form of relating, geared towards changing brain functioning, clients' brains change the way they respond to certain situations, creating more long lasting results.
